My Story
Hey there, fabulous listeners! Let me introduce myself properly — I'm the heart and soul behind 60sDJ, your friendly neighborhood time-travelling DJ hailing from the beautiful hills of Scotland!
I live in my cozy home up here in the north, where I've built my very own studio right in the house. It's my little sanctuary — part retro radio haven with turntables, stacks of precious vinyl 45s, and all the groovy gear you could dream of, and part creative art space where I lose myself in my paintings when I'm not spinning records. Yes, I'm a passionate artist as well as a DJ — I love exploring all sorts of subjects and styles on canvas, creating pieces that are completely my own expression, far removed from the 60s music world that fuels my shows.
Back in the day, growing up, I absolutely lived for those magical radio shows of the 60s and 70s — the warm voice of the DJ, the crackle of the vinyl, the seamless flow of hits that felt like a conversation with your best mates. But somewhere along the way, that authentic, nostalgic feel seemed to disappear from the airwaves. I searched high and low for somewhere playing the music I truly love — the Motown grooves, the British Invasion bangers, the soulful classics — but nothing quite hit the spot. So, I thought, why not just do it myself? And that's how 60sDJ was born — straight from my Scottish studio, playing real records live for all of you wonderful people.
